A Gift

A Gift

Hopefully, you each got to receive some gifts this season and got to give some. I certainly had a great time celebrating with our family and also got the chance to see the face of many to whom I gave gifts. I’m also hopeful that you enjoyed “Christmas Tales,” the devotional of stories, and that you found gifts within it that were helpful or inspiring. I am also asking that you consider giving me a gift now that the devotional is done. I’d love to hear if there was a particular story that you enjoyed. It would be a great, great gift to hear about a story that made sense, or that made you laugh, or that meant a lot to you. If you can take the time, I’d love it if you would tell me of it and why that one. What was it that caught your attention? You can write me at geoff@rbcommunity.org. Stories are a great gift from God to us. They help us to understand the world. They allow us to walk in other people’s shoes, to see life from different perspectives than our own, and to challenge our thoughts… without leaving our homes. You’ve heard me say how important I believe exploration is for Christians. We should never stop exploring. I believe it will be part of heaven, the ability to explore everything endlessly. They give us a taste of an experience we might never be allowed to have in most cases. Sailing around the world, walking through the nightmare of a prison camp, seeing magic as a regular feature of life, catching wild ponies, working against injustice with inmates on death row, even walking on the moon… stories incite insight. So, God wrote us into his story… or history… so we could learn how deeply he wants us to be part of it. God creates with Words, so as you head into a new day sometimes ask God to say you again… to help you start in a new way in him. Blessings, Geoff
