Hands of the Carpenter

The Carpenter's Ministry began 25 years ago at RB Community under the leadership of Bob and Dorothy Kirkpatrick. The mission was to show God's love through hands on service and support projects which enhance people's lives and support those in need.

Every year we sponsor Jeans for Vets in conjunction with Veterans' Day. We collect gently used jeans, work clothes and new socks, tees and underwear for homeless vets. All donations go to Veterans' Village in San Diego. We also sponsor Souper Bowl on the weekend of the football game, collecting canned food and non-perishable items. All food donations go to Interfaith Community Services in Escondido and Presbyterian Urban Ministries in Downtown San Diego.

In recent years, our ministry has grown to include Memorial Garden maintenance, meals for Solutions for Change in Vista, Thanksgiving food bags, assistance for families in need at Christmas, Habitat for Humanity builds, and repair or painting projects on the church campus.

We've also completed home repair projects for those in need. Recently, a new set of stairs in a mobile home park was built for a resident and church attendee. The completed project brought tears to the owner.

We meet once a month in a member's home for food, fellowship, and business. All funds for our projects come from Carpenter Fellowship members' donations.
