Heartstrings Ministry

Over 11 years ago Heartstrings Ministry was started when Cyndi Nolan put a notice in the church bulletin inviting anyone who liked to knit to join a group meeting on Saturday mornings. Seven women came to the first meeting and everyone liked it so much the group continued to meet adding more members as time went on. Over the years the group has expanded to include those skilled in knitting and crocheting.

The purpose of the Heartstrings Ministry has always been to support the missions and ministries of the church. Since 2014 over 7000 items have been distributed to groups such as Gently Hugged (baby items) and MCAS Miramar and Pendleton (hats, lapgans, and crutch covers). Currently members are busy making lapghans, hats of all sizes, baby blankets, scarves, wash clothes and crutch covers. A total of 995 items have been made and distributed in 2019. Many hats and scarves have been given to Baja Presbyterian Ministries, Salvation Army, Solutions for Change, Interfaith Community Services, and New Day Urban Ministries. This group of busy knitters continues to be a blessing to our congregation and to individuals served through local non-profit agencies.

Knitters and crocheters of all levels are welcome to join on the first Saturday morning of each month from 9:00-11:00 at the church. If interested, please contact Linda at llstyler@aol.com.
