Interested in being on a church committee?

Serving on a committee is a great way to get involved in RB Community. Below are descriptions of our current committees.

COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS

Administration & Finance *

The Administration & Finance Committee (A&F) manages the financial expenditures and budgets of the Church. Members of A&F work with staff and elders in preparing the annual budget, including the review of employee compensation and benefits. A&F reviews major capital and project expenditures, develops and oversees Church policy and procedures, and acts on behalf of the Church in all legal matters. A&F also oversees Church investments and our endowment funds. Members with financial and legal backgrounds from the congregation who are willing to serve on this committee are encouraged to submit their interest, including applicable skills and experience, to the Chairman. As positions open, we will use this information to welcome new committee members. Frank Wesley, Chair knarfwels@cox.net

Adult & Senior Ministries*

Adult & Senior Ministries oversees a variety of adult education class offerings including in-depth Bible study classes, Wednesday evening dinners with a video series, such as The Chosen or Drive Thru History, which provides time for community building through discussion. One-time classes with a special topic are held as well. Also offered are more relaxed LifeGroups, and periodic Connection events. LifeGroups continue to form strong personal bonds between the participants, putting Bible’s teachings into practice, as we learn and serve together. The Connection Ministry focuses on building community around common interests and opportunities to form small fellowship groups. This team also works with the Hospitality team in the planning of Women’s Ministry events and coordinating meals for the dinner and luncheons throughout the year.

Throughout the ministry an emphasis on Spiritual Formation is important for community growth. We are open to ideas for additional opportunities and ways to connect the church community and those willing to develop these classes.

The Facilities Committee strives to ensure our facilities are well designed, equipped and maintained in order to fulfill our mission to God. The Facilities Committee is a team of Elders, Volunteers and staff members. This team works tirelessly to ensure that the campus is kept safe, clean, well maintained, and is aesthetically pleasing for members and visitors. Focus areas include: General System Maintenance, Custodial, Meeting Space Scheduling, Campus Landscape, Campus Aesthetics, Facility Sustainment, Safety/Risk Management, Equipment and Systems Assessment, Supporting Events and Facility Volunteer Management.

Volunteer skills needed: mechanical, electrical, civil engineering, landscape and interior design and maintenance; plumbing, painting, carpentry, concrete, stucco, flooring repair and installation; facilities management, contract and project management; scheduling, drafting (AutoCADD), construction plan reading, building and fire code knowledge; commercial kitchen management, security, fire and ADA safety systems installation and management, solar electric and roofing maintenance. This committee is seeking people who are willing to engage in family ministries and the larger congregation as a whole. Andy Watt awatt333@gmail.com

Annually HR is also responsible for 1. preparing the compensation package of all employees for the church budget and 2. ensuring each employee gets a performance evaluation. We also strive to foster a positive work environment free of any reprisals, ensuring that each employee has someone in HR to whom he or she can go to voice confidentially an opinion or concern.

Members from the congregation with background in human resources and/or professional legal experience in labor laws, who are willing to serve on this committee, are encouraged to submit their interest, including applicable skills and experience, to the Chair’s email. Missions

The RB Community Missions Committee is chartered to help our church fulfill the Great Commission: to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ to every person and to make disciples of all the nations. We are a standing committee of the congregation which works to reach, serve and save God’s people beyond our church family through local mission outreach and mission/missionary support in communities beyond our reach. Ginger Stauffer/Terry Norwood missionscommittee@rbcommunity.org

Officer Nominating

The purpose of the Officer Nominating Committee (ONC) is to identify potential candidates for leadership as elders and deacons, to evaluate their qualifications, to discern the authenticity of their calling and to forward nominees to the congregation for approval. ONC is also responsible for soliciting nominations for and vetting two congregational representatives* for membership on the following year's ONC, presenting them to the congregation for its approval. In addition, Session may call the ONC to bring nominations to the congregations for other committees as needed. Scripture basis for ONC: Titus 1:5 Larry Martin larryjmartin1117@gmail.com

Preschool *

RB Community Church is blessed to have a preschool on our campus to serve the children and families in our community. RBCPC Preschool is committed to celebrating the uniqueness of each individual, actively engaging in our community, and showing God’s love in everything we do. Our Preschool embraces all children and families, values building meaningful relationships, and nurtures academic, social and spiritual growth. We believe children learn best through play. We are a state licensed and NAEYC accredited, non-profit preschool. We are a ministry of RB Community Church. Larry Martin larryjmartin1117@gmail.com

Stewardship*

The mission of the Stewardship committee is to establish a culture of generosity and use of resources (time, talent and treasure) and to make the congregation aware of the opportunities to share their resources in the life of our church. The committee strives to help individuals understand their role as stewards of God’s gifts, to promote stewardship related education and conversation within the church community, and to encourage active involvement in the church’s ministries and programs. All of these create a sense of community and shared responsibility and serve to promote God’s work within our church and community. Tom Insley thinsley@aol.com

Worship & Arts

The Worship and Arts Committee helps plan and develop worship and artistic programs. The committee works to support and strengthen worship and the arts within the church community. It serves as a link between the congregation, church staff, and Session in areas of worship, music, theater, and visual arts. The committee also provides education on PCUSA beliefs, worship symbols, and the role of art in the church. Rotating displays in the church’s art gallery offer opportunities for engagement and reflection. Led by Chair Robert Homer rhomerrhr@gmail.com
