What are the chances that I would be taking notes about the sermon and reading the next chapter of a book about spiritual formation on the same day? Both emphasized the need to take time away in solitude. This is a source of strength for us. Solitude is a way to get away from the noise of the world, disconnect, set aside technology, and be still. Rest in God’s presence. Just think how calming that is. It gives you a chance to listen to God. We need to know that despite our imperfections, we are loved and known by God. He will give us new knowledge and ways to lift up others. We have allowed God to renew our minds and strengthen us. We can always talk to God and ask forgiveness of what we did wrong. When we spend time with God, we deepen our relationship with Him and recharge to take the next steps. He gives us strength to get through each day. The Call to Worship said, “You make us strong. You listen. You come and find us.” Take time to relax knowing that God is with you. After taking your time away from everything, thank God for being present with you. Reflections from Deborah Kelly.
