Joel’s message revolves around the “Day of the Lord”, a recurring biblical theme that signifies a time of divine judgment and/or deliverance. Day of the Lord is God’s intervention in history to bring salvation for His people. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Joel promised that God will “pour out His Spirit on all mankind”. Peter spoke of this on the Day of Pentecost. Pentecost is the birth of the church. It occurs 50 days after Easter. On this day, thousands were converted and baptized. This provided the apostles with the power to preach the Gospel in various languages so many people could understand. They were able to reach all nations. In Genesis 4:25-26, it says that people began to call upon the name of the Lord as it was an early form of worship. We are never alone. God is with us. We are not abandoned. Pastor Mofid emphasized “always” in that Jesus is always with us, and the Holy Spirit is in us. We can depend daily on God. We can live new lives. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is powerfully at work in us. We are given a Purpose. We get to share our spiritual gifts with others. We can serve in ways far beyond our natural abilities. He has entrusted us until He comes. We can be His people. This is so true in this church that people share their spiritual gifts with others. I have enjoyed making the Bookmarks about our ministries as I see people who are reaching out beyond themselves to make a difference for others. We are not alone! God is with everyone in this church!
