This will be a different reflection that I am writing about this week. I have not been at the services for two weeks or watched them online, however, I wanted to reflect on something I am working through. I retired from teaching a couple of years ago, but I don’t feel like I retired. Different events, to-do lists, and pressure to accomplish things fill my day. Right now, I am stepping back and getting away from some of these things. Recently, I wrote about reading the book, “Crafting a Rule of Life”. I would like to share some good questions and points they make to help you discern where you are and what you can do next.
What makes you most passionate about your daily life and service to others?
What do you sense God is inviting you to as it relates to your preferred future?
Paul prayed for God to fill his people with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. This is what we need to understand our next steps.
Consider ways to simplify your life.
Maximize your time for rest and refreshment.
Sometimes we need to step back and think about who we are and who God is calling us to be. God isn’t trying to overburden us. He is there to guide us in our faith and our lives. He will walk with us and hold our hands. We have a spiritual community to support us at this church. I hope this helps you in the weeks ahead as we approach the holidays. We feel more pressure to get things done, but Paul prayed for God to help us understand our next steps. How can we simplify our lives and listen to how God is calling us to make a difference in the next few months? We can all pray for each other to get a break and not have too many burdens to bear.
