We are to lead people into strength, assurance, and inner peace. This means that we need to share our faith with others and help them to grow in their relationship with God. We can share our faith by telling others about our story, being a good example, and teaching them about God’s word. Titus provided a powerful example about leadership and faith. It calls upon us to not only strengthen our spiritual journey but also to guide others toward a deeper connection with God. He emphasized the importance of living a worthy life characterized by teaching, encouragement, helping others, and loving family. I know when I walk on the church campus I will interact with people who are sharing their experiences with God in their lives. How did God get them through something? How is God speaking to them? It is so uplifting to hear their stories. When I was continuing to read about Abraham Lincoln this week, the author wrote about a time during the Civil War when President Lincoln was upset, weary, and losing weight. He said, “What has God put me in this place for?” He was trying to discover how to take his next steps and give himself purpose. He was willing to learn from his experiences and learn more so he could continue to lead. He was lifted up and he started moving forward again. We can do this, too. We can listen and learn from others to feel inspired about how to take our next steps. We can guide others. We are a family and can help each other know that God is with us. Let us commit to following Titus’ example and lead others towards a deeper relationship with God. The end of the service asked us to think through some things we are experiencing. What are some tensions in your life? How do you feel stuck in those areas? What are some ways you can release this tension to God? Then we prayed for God to help us through these issues so we can have a deeper connection and help others to grow in their relationship. Reflections from Deborah Kelly.
