The Bible verses for the sermon were from Matthew 25:31-46 which is often called the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats. Jesus welcomes the sheep, the righteous, into his kingdom. Their righteousness is defined not by their words, but by their actions of love and compassion toward others. These people helped feed the hungry, gave drinks to the thirsty, clothed the naked, visited the sick, and visited those in prison. This reminds me of the people in this church who are sharing their talents and treasures with people in need. One of the songs last week was titled “When the Poor Ones”. It said when we have nothing to share or we are thirsty or are crippled, we may still share with others. God still goes that road with us. This is what New Day Urban Ministries does for others. They are actively living out the gospel through acts of kindness. They show an expression of a changed heart and offer hope and help to those in need. I have been helping to edit the church Annual Report. It is amazing to see how many people are sharing their time to be a blessing to our community! The report will be out soon so you can reflect on who we are as a church. Thank you God for holding our hand and leading us to be a blessing and comfort for those in need.
