At this church, we offer help, relationships, care, and more. We are people of God, and we build relationships so others can see their significance. Growth, both personal and spiritual, is intertwined with these connections. I liked the example about Geoff’s son who did a presentation for his class that started with a time to be in silence. The students were supposed to just sit there and take time to rest and reflect. We all need to do this. Maybe find a scripture to read and just sit still. It allows you to get away from doing chores or work for a short time and lift the burdens from your mind. When you come back from this time, you are ready to start anew. This quote popped up when I was online this week, and I thought it tied in with last week’s service. “Education is relationship-centered. When people feel connected, they give more, grow more, and become more.” This is what we do at this church. We keep learning more from classes and sermons. We are with others who are learning as well. Then we connect after the class or church service. We chat with each other to see someone else’s perspective. You never know how it might resonate with others, and you can learn from their reflections. I thought the example of Frederick in Germany was interesting. When they only allowed nurses to feed the babies and not hold them, all of the infants died. There were no relationships or love with the babies. Not having connections can hurt us. There is a human need for connection. Pray for our church so that we can build relationships with others. Reflections from Deborah Kelly.
