Reflections for may 18

The theme of the sermon last week was companionship. The idea was to connect with others in our loving community. It was Ascension Sunday when Jesus went to heaven, yet Jesus is with us every day. We need Jesus in our life as much as we need other people. Spending time in person with others is important for our well-being. We have a chance to be real, show love, and forgive others. Our Prayer Team is always there for us, too. You can turn in a Prayer Card in the offering on Sunday or come up to the front of the sanctuary for them to pray for you after the service. We have companions in this church and we are so thankful for each other. I liked the example of how Jesus called his disciples and treated them as friends and not just servants. He listened to them and helped them continue to take steps forward. They worked together. This is similar to being on a committee or being part of a ministry in this church. You have a chance to work with others. You can learn from each other and listen to each other. There is companionship available for you. This has happened to me recently. A few people who I didn’t know very well reached out to me for something. We met and had a chance to learn more about each other. It was so comforting! I was so uplifted by their love, caring, and time to connect. We can be like cells in a body working together and taking care of each other. By showing love to one another, we can reflect God’s love.
