Reflections for may 10

The sermon last week was very thought provoking since it referred to people overcoming hardship and embracing God’s love and growth. Can we admit our pain and move on? Can we grow like a garden and see ourselves come to life? People often dwell on their past hurts which hinders their ability to move forward. Some people are willing to acknowledge their struggles and remain open to God. A friend of mine brought me some cards on Sunday that allow people to take a breath (inhaling and exhaling) as you read a scripture. I picked out one card, and I think it relates to working through hardship and embracing God’s love. You are supposed to inhale as you say “In all things” and exhale as you say “Be my life and breath”. There are two scriptures that relate to this. Job 33:4 – “The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the almighty gives me life.” John 4:14 – “Whoever drinks of the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Recently, I have had so many things appearing in my life that relate to how I should keep moving forward. Today the sermon and the scripture let me take a breath and be calm. I have talked to a few people at church who are looking for a chance to be calm. Yet, one other thing that Geoff mentioned was our need for growth through community and learning. We can be the people God has nourished us to be. We can grow. We can be God’s people. We can develop and experience His love with others. Take the opportunity to discover how you can grow with other church members. You will be reaching out a hand to them, and they will be reaching out a hand to you. Reflections from Deborah Kelly. Share your reflections with deborah@rbcommunity.org and let me know your thoughts.
