Reflections for september 6

The sermon, "From Darkness to Light," explored the theme of spiritual blindness, highlighting the idea that people are born unable to see or understand God. The central message was that God opens our hearts and eyes, and following Jesus requires a daily, personal relationship with Him. The ultimate hope is to one day see Jesus face to face. The sermon drew a parallel between Jesus' physical healings and His spiritual work, explaining that He healed the physically blind and helped His disciples, who were spiritually blind, to understand His true identity. The service's songs reinforced this message with lyrics like, "We are here for you," "God blesses our people here," and "Our life will reflect the love of Jesus." The sermon emphasized that when we embrace these truths, we are transformed from darkness to light. Our Sunday worship prepares us for the week ahead, reminding us that God is always with us. Pastor Mofid's message drew from the first eight chapters of the book of Mark, which are filled with over seventeen of Jesus' miracles. The sermon highlighted how Jesus’ word alone was enough to make a miracle happen. Jesus was a teacher who showed people how and why their lives could change if they believed in Him. His constant effort to help the disciples understand His purpose can help us grow from being spiritually blind to living a life with Jesus. This was an uplifting service as we prepare to welcome Pastor Ko, whose first sermon will be on September 21. We look forward to continuing our journey of learning how God is at work in our lives and how we can reach out to others with love and care. Reflections from Deborah Kelly.
