Twelve Months of Giving

June 30th marks the end of the 2024 fiscal year for the church. During that time the Outreach Ministry has sponsored over 24 collections that our congregation and the community have supported in the following ways:

  • 3500 sack lunches for clients at Interfaith Community Services and 195 Thanksgiving Dinner bags for families at Solutions for Change, Twin Peaks Middle, Los Pen Elementary, STEP for military families, and New Day Urban Ministries plus 8 turkeys

  • 25 carloads of groceries plus (4) carloads of Top Ramen meals for New Day Urban Ministries, Salvation Army, Interfaith, and 4 Community Care food pantries

  • 305 backpacks and boxes of school supplies for children served by PUSD Youth in Transition, Los Pen and Pomerado Elementary, Twin Peaks Middle School, and Salvation Army in Escondido

  • 151 pairs of new school shoes for youth at Solutions for Change, San Diego Rescue Mission, PUSD Youth in Transition, and Monarch School

  • 3 carloads of underwear were delivered to Interfaith, New Day, and SD Rescue Mission plus (2) SUV loads of diapers, wipes, and other baby necessities for enlisted military families served through STEP.

  • 284 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, several carloads of games and toys for military families collected during Angel Tree.

  • 7 carloads of towels, toiletries, and warm clothing for Alpha Project, New Day Urban Ministries, Interfaith Community Services, San Diego Rescue Mission, and Veterans Village

  • 34 stocking stuffers for children at Los Pen Elementary, 7 garbage-size bags of knit scarves, hats, wash clothes, and placemats for those living in shelters, over 200 toiletry kits for clients of New Day, Interfaith, SD Rescue Mission, and Alabaster Jar Project

  • Let’s not forget the 23 units of blood, the dozens of cookies for Kairos Prison ministry, and the carload of pet supplies delivered this past week to the San Diego Humane Society

What do you think the cash value of these in-kind donations would be? Is it $75,000 or maybe $80,000 … perhaps even more considering today’s inflated prices. Bottom line, this is another way of measuring the success of our church, the generosity of our congregation, our invitation to the community at large to participate, and our outreach to those in need being served through local non-profits. Congratulations … YOU are the Outreach Ministry, and we get to do it all over again starting in July.
