Pastor Mofid Thanks Pastoral Care Volunteers

There was a great turnout to view the twenty-six Pastoral Care Ministries Sunday October 6 in the Courtyard. We will be sharing some great stories from the event soon, but Pastor Mofid would like to say a special thanks to the volunteers. Special mention to Parish Nurse Marilyn Glover and her team for organizing this great event.

Dear beloved servants of the Lord,

Grace to you and Peace,

We read in the book of Genesis 1:27-28 the following:

“7 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply…”

Yesterday as I walked in the courtyard, I saw you all fulfilling what Adam failed to do. You fulfilled what Jesus commanded us to do. You all reflect Christ in your lives as well as your ministries. You and your ministries are blessings to the whole community. You do exactly what Christ wants us to do. Your care, support, and help to others in the name of Jesus is a great way to be fruitful and to multiply children for Him as the people see Christ in you.

The Bible carefully mentioned that God commanded Adam to be fruitful and multiply after mentioning that Adam was created in the image of God. The idea is for Adam to bring children in God’s image not in the image of Adam. We know the story that Adam sinned and was cast out of the Garden of Eden. Adam lost his goal and could not fulfill God’s command to bring children in God’s image. Instead, Adam brought children in his own image as we read “When Adam had lived 130 years, he fathered a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.” (Gen.5:3).

God’s goal for His creation remains the same. God gave a similar command to Noah (Gen.9:7), to Abraham (Gen.12:2-3), and to Israel (Ex.19:6). Unfortunately, all fell short. But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, who “is the image of the invisible God…” (Colossians 1:15; Phi 2:6). To fulfill what Adam failed to do.

Jesus, before His ascension to His father, gave us the same command that Adam failed to fulfill. Jesus commanded us to be fruitful and multiply as we should bring children in His own image. Children not only biologically but by spreading the Gospel, “19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you…”(Matt.28:19-20).

I say to you now what Apostle Paul said to Colossians, “We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you, “the word of the truth, the gospel, which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you…”(Colossians 1:3--6).

Thank you for all that you do for the Lord. Thank you for being Christ-like, giving a hand and care to many. Many thanks to you for organizing such a great event. We had a great day and Jesus smiled. I am so honored and blessed to be part of this group as we all serve our great God together.

I pray may the Lord bless you all and keep you as you continue to serve Him.

In Christ,

Pastor Mofid
