I. MAJOR PURPOSE
Provide Early Childhood Education in a loving, safe, Christian environment to the children and families of RBCPC, and the surrounding community.
II. SCOPE
The Preschool teacher is responsible for the planning and implementation of a quality, developmentally appropriate, Christian oriented program for the children assigned to her/him, in accordance with overall preschool foundational values and the values of RBCPC.
III. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Plan and implement a balance of developmentally appropriate learning experiences for the children she/he serves.
B. Set up the class each day and be well prepared before the children arrive. Clean up classroom and store materials at the end of the day.
C. Develop active relationships with each child and family served.
D. Maintain children’s observations and records.
E. Work with the preschool staff as a team in the planning and implementation of preschool activities and events.
F. Continue professional development.
IV. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Plan and implement a balanced, developmentally appropriate curriculum for the children served.
B. Work with the assigned Assisting Teachers to maintain a stimulating, appropriate and safe learning environment.
C. Work with the preschool staff and Director as a team to provide a quality preschool experience for families served.
D. Work with assigned Assisting Teacher to insure consistency for the children served.
E. Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-service and professional growth days.
F. Develop active relationships with each child and parent served.
G. Communicate with parents through formal conferences, informal discussions, and monthly newsletters.
H. Maintain children’s records and observations.
I. Know the health history, allergies and limitations of each child served.
J. Responsible for classroom management; treating each child with respect and dignity.
K. Submit monthly newsletters and “what did we do today” documentation of curriculum to Director.
L. Maintain a healthy, safe classroom. Work as a team with room partner in shared rooms.
M. Responsible for the maintenance and storage of all preschool materials and equipment.
N. Participate in the planning, set-up and supervision of the playground activities.
O. Participate in all emergency drills, be familiar with all emergency procedures and insure that the children know procedures to be followed.
P. Communicate all concerns regarding a child and/or family to the Director, work with the Director to develop strategies to help the child and family.
Q. Be familiar with community resources, which support children and families.
R. Plan, support and attend preschool special events including Parent Orientation, Dad’s Night, parent participation, end of year event and other events as requested by the Director.
S. Arrive punctually and be professional in manner. Notify Director in advance when unable to attend preschool.
T. Share God’s love with each child, family and staff member served.
U. Work to affirm and practice the RBCPC Protection Policy.
V. Maintain current knowledge of RBCPC ministries and the values of the
church.
V. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
A. Work under the supervision of and is responsible to the Preschool Director.
B. Work with the assigned Assistant Teachers.
C. Participates in performance appraisals three times during the school year.
D. Cooperates with other staff members in a “team based” manner
E. Maintains a positive, collaborative, working relationship with RBCPC staff, volunteers and ministries of the church
F. Works within and affirms the values of RBCPC and specifically the mission of the RBCPC Preschool Ministry
VI. QUALIFICATIONS
A. Strong knowledge and experience in the field of early childhood education.
B. Passion for young children and their families.
C. Meet all requirements of California Community Care Licensing including training, health and fingerprinting.
D. Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
E. Professional, friendly, flexible, patient, resourceful, helpful, reliable, good listener.
VII. REQUIREMENTS
A. US Citizen or authorized to work in the US
B. Good physical health
C. Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds
D. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance
E. Ability to stand or walk up to 7 hours a day
F. Ability to push or pull equipment, such as carts
G. Ability to get on and off the floor to intact with the children.
H. Requires flexibility of time and days of week
