During the month of December leading up to Christmas, you will have an opportunity to visit with local and international mission groups, and missionaries that RBCPC supports either financially or with in-kind donations. Please take a few minutes on Dec 3, 10, and 17 to visit the mission tables on the courtyard, to learn more about the amazing work being done throughout the world to spread the Word and Love of Christ. Rejoice in knowing that you are a part of that effort. Other December mission/outreach activities to be aware of: Dec. 2 Drive thru grocery drop off (upper parking lot 9-11) for Salvation Army Nov. 26 – Dec. 10 ANGEL TREE in the Narthex with gift tags for military families November has been a blow-out month with the generosity of this congregation providing (2) SUV loads of groceries to 4 Community Care food pantry, and by blessing 195 families in our community with Thanksgiving Dinner bags, and 500 sack lunches for clients of Interfaith Community Services. This year RBCPC was a collection site for Samaritans Purse National Collection Week which provided us with an opportunity to greet families, scout troops, and other church representatives who were dropping off filled shoeboxes. Of the 912 shoeboxes we packed in cartons, 284 were from our congregation. Thank you to our front office crew, other volunteers, and drivers that helped with this endeavor. Sixteen folks from the congregation are helping to serve a holiday meal on Dec. 16 to homeless men, women, and children at the San Diego Rescue Mission. Watch for other opportunities to get out into the community serving those in need. What a blessing that we can be the hands and feet of Jesus through a variety of ways to so many in our neighborhoods. The GIVE-ACT-PRAY information session held last Sunday after church was attended by 40 people who learned about our supported missions, the budget, and how the Missions Committee evaluates and discerns level of support each year for our missions and missionaries. Suggestions were shared related to mission fund raising, communication ideas to keep the congregation informed, and how church attenders can become more involved on a personal level with both local and international mission efforts. The Missions Committee will be reviewing the ideas/suggestions in January. Please look for and pick up a copy of the Missions booklet that will be on mission tables for the next three Sundays. There will be volunteer sign-up sheets at the tables to ask how you can get involved. They all need help! To find out more about our supported missions visit the website: https://rbcommunity.org/ministry:Missions. Hope to see you on the courtyard and THANK YOU for the ways in which you GIVE-ACT-PRAY on behalf of our missions, missionaries, and local non-profits serving families in need.
