Lent 2020

Lent 2020

In the Lenten season, we are going to be challenged to fast and feast on the Word of Christ. The six weeks leading up to Jesus’ death and resurrection provide opportunities for contemplation, reflection and confessions, practices that can often feel uncomfortable. It is much easier to focus on Christ’s love and life than our own sin that drove him to sacrifice on the cross.

This year, our music and worship ministry hopes to come alongside you in your personal Lenten journeys by providing a variety of opportunities for stillness, space and prayer. I encourage you to supplement your regular weekend worship with one or many of the offerings available for this upcoming liturgical season.

Ash Wednesday: Wednesday, February 26th at 6:30pm - A service of music, short teachings from three of our pastors, imposition of the ashes and reflection held in our sanctuary.

Musical Reflections for Lent: Wednesday, March 4th at 4:30pm - Join us in the intimate setting of our chapel as the music department offers a presentation of anthems, poetry and hymns. Stay for supper and fellowship.

Special Lenten Music Service: Sunday, March 22nd at 8:30am & 11:30am - The chancel choir and orchestra offer a special service of music for the season of Lent.

Mornings with the Master: Monday-Friday, April 6th-10th at 7am - During Holy Week, we offer short morning services for reflection and teaching. It’s truly a special way to focus on Jesus’ journey to the cross.

Maundy Thursday: Thursday, April 9th at 11am - On the Thursday of Holy Week, we offer a second worship service that includes communion. Sign-up on the connection card for the Passover Lamb class and lunch offered afterward.

Good Friday: Friday, April 10th @ 7pm - An evening communion at in our sanctuary that includes the story of Christ’s passion. In order to celebrate his resurrection, we must first remember his sacrifice.

Peace of Christ, Elizabeth Virkler
